Wild mountain stone typically appears dark gray or blue-gray; its surface features a natural layer of moss-like deposits resulting from calcium enrichment, alongside textures formed by ancient weathering. The stone is dense and highly workable, with some pieces capable of achieving a fine, mirror-like finish when polished. Having long been exposed on the mountain surface, the stones exist as distinct, block-like formations, with individual pieces weighing up to several tons.
These stones are formed through the gradual erosion of limestone. The process involves ancient crustal movements that exposed the rock to the surface, followed by years of sun and rain, prolonged weathering, and natural spalling or fracturing. They are categorized into "water stones" and "dry stones"; water stones, specifically, are formed slowly in rivers or lakes through the action of waves and long-term erosion.
